Hello, world

Why this exists
I wanted a place to write down things I learn while building backend systems in Go — mostly short, practical notes rather than polished tutorials. A few things I expect to come back to:
- How we structure Elasticsearch indices for analytics that need to stay fast as data grows
- Patterns for integrating with flaky third-party APIs (looking at you, mobile money providers)
- Notes on change data capture and keeping systems in sync without batch jobs
- Mentoring and what “senior” actually means day to day
Write the post you wish you’d found when you were stuck on this exact problem.
As a small test of the code formatting on this site, here’s a minimal Go HTTP handler:
func handleHealth(w http.ResponseWriter, r *http.Request) {
w.Header().Set("Content-Type", "application/json")
w.WriteHeader(http.StatusOK)
json.NewEncoder(w).Encode(map[string]string{
"status": "ok",
})
}
More to come.
